Each day we will have updates and pictures, so check us out every day, starting on Monday, June 11th.
So much for the best laid plans...  Randy's laptop totally died which is making the updates a challenge.
We will do our best to get updates posted but Randy is having to borrow a computer from the camp counselor
which means it will be hard to have the students write testimonies.  But we should be able to provide
plenty of pictures!

CANADA 2007 TESTIMONIES:

MONDAY

Thank you for your prayer for this life-changing Canada trip.  Thus far the trip has been awesome and challenging at the same time.  We started out our trip with a 5 hour detour in Wyoming because the interstate was flooded, which got us into Canada 5 hours later than normal, so we did not make it to Edmonton for the Water Park at the Mall.  Instead we decided to drive through the Banff National Park on our way to Frontier Lodge and stopped at Lake Louise.  There we had an awesome worship time right by the lake.  While we were worshipping, God just overwhelmed our whole group with the beauty of His creation as we sang praise to Him.   Many people stopped and listened to us worship, and even came and sat by us on the side of the hill.  It was truly a gift.  When we finally arrive at Frontier Lodge, it was so cool to see the excitement of the first time Canada students as they saw where we will be staying and as they have heard so much about this trip.  I praise God that I have the opportunity to be here my 16th year with my students from Centennial Covenant Church.

Monday was a full day of work projects, and our students worked hard and accomplished so much here at the camp.  We helped with staining the deck, highway clean up, moving dirt to plant grass, clearing brush, cooking in the kitchen, and so much more.  Our students did an outstanding job!  Monday evening we took a small excursion to Crescent Falls, the students are always amazed at the three water falls.  We ended the evening with worship, sharing and a devotional time around a camp fire.

Tuesday we will be hiking Hoo Doo Creek in the morning and after noon.  Late after noon we have 10 in our group that hope to go Heli-biking (helicopter Mountain Biking) at Coliseum Mountain if the weather is good.  Then we will end the evening with a camp fire, worship, sharing, testimonies, and devotions.

 Blessings,

Randy Stensgard, Student Ministry Pastor

Hi it’s Bre!

The bus ride was long because of a 5 hour detour. But it was fun cause everyone on this trip is really amazing. Instead of the water park we got to go to Lake Louise, which was SO GORGEOUS! It was truly one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. We had worship at the lake and it was really cool because everyone would walk by and stare, then a couple people even sat with us. I guess it’s really helped me, in a sense that I don’t really have a “best friend” here but it was like, God was my best friend. Like, when I have no one else to talk to, he’s there. I always knew that, but I never really put it into motion.

                                                                                    Love, love, love,

                                                                                                Bre-Bre

 Hello there all Ya’ll.

This is Jon speaking. I just wanted to let all you guys know how good of a time I am having! Canada just keeps gettin’ better and better! We sort of had a detour through the mountains of Wyoming (yes there is such a thing as a Wyoming mountain), and it set us a little behind schedule. Because of that though, we weren’t able to go to the mall. It’s funny how God works though, because instead we went to Lake Louise where God totally showed up in a way I have never seen on this trip. We decided to do a time of worship and our devotions next to the lake.  I am so glad we did, because we had one of the most breathtaking views in the world as I know it. It’s funny too, because during our worship time, complete strangers came over to see the strange sight of a bunch of teens singing songs together. What an awesome opportunity we were given to be a light and to show people God in a place he is already extremely visible. In a sense we were explaining the beauty of the place God created through our songs. It was sweet because people came and sat and listened to us. There were close to 10 people apparently listening to us as we sang. It was awesome! I am so glad that God allowed the detour and the time to be a light to the world. It is awesome how God can surprise us. Well, we just finished lunch and it is time to get back to our work projects! I hope ya’ll are doin’ well and please keep us in your prayers! Thanks. -        Jon

Hi, guys. This trip has been very important to the advancement of the relationships with each other and God. We have smelled each other’s body odor and that’s pretty L .  ~ Michael

You’ve read about our detours and delays, but God has a plan for this trip regardless of some things not going as we had planned.  Actually, the detour was gorgeous!!  As far as the mall goes, I’d rather look at God’s creation than man’s—since we got to choose.  J  Lake Louise was very serene and beautiful. The worship time was truly amazing.  God touched many people’s hearts with that.  When we got there the weather was cool with a pretty good wind and cloudy.  The clouds cleared, the sun came out, and the wind died down for our worship, and as soon as we were done, the temperature dropped about 10 degrees, a large mass of clouds blew in, and it started to misty rain as we walked back to the bus.  The very steep mountains and lush, green valleys are different from our Rocky Mountains.  The long “Grandpa’s Beard” green moss hanging from the pine trees in the valleys is very pretty.  Someone felt it, and said it was very soft and spongy—a pile of it makes a GREAT cushion.  Someone smelled it, and said it smelled like wood.  Someone tasted it, and said it tasting like nothing.  We’re very scientific in our explorations.  J  Frontier Lodge is very peaceful.  There is nothing like God’s people doing God’s work in the middle of God’s creation.  It’s very blessed.  ~  Laura Kuhl

TUESDAY’S TESTIMONIES

Tuesday’s events:

  1. Morning devotions, worship and sharing
  2. Hiking Hoo Doo Creek
  3. Hang out at the camp – come down time
  4. Heli-biking (helicopter Mountain biking) at the Coliseum
  5. Evening worship, sharing, devotions, testimonies

Thank you for your continual prayers.  The relationships started out slow at the beginning of the trip, but now new friendships are being formed every day, and most everyone feels like they have made new friends.  Meredith Higgins signed up for the Canada trip the day before we left, and she did not know very many people on the trip, but now she has gotten to know so many students, it was really fun to hear students sharing at the camp fire about how exited they are that they have gotten to know her better.  This is just one of many examples of great relationships being built.  We have had some awesome testimonies tonight, students were honest and real about where they are with Jesus and how He is working in there lives. Our student leaders that are leading worship are amazing and the devotions are hitting all of us in the heart.  God is at work, it’s so cool to see Him working in all of our lives.  Thank you for your prayers.

We will not have another website update till late Thursday night or Friday morning because we are going camping Wednesday and Thursday.

 WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY:

  1. Rock Climbing & Repelling
  2. Hiking
  3. Mountain Biking
  4. Tyrolean Traverse
  5. And Camping out at Kootney Plains

Pray that it will not rain this year while we camp out.  Thank you for your continued prayers for our Canada discipleship trip

Hey guys, it’s Mandee!!
Well you’ve probably read in previous testimonies that we took a 5 hour detour in Wyoming. At first it didn’t really seem like a very positive experience but we ended going to Lake Louise and having this awesome worship session at the Lake which was stunning! It was so cool to see people passing by and looking to see what we were doing. Even though we ended up being on the bus for a total of like 36+ hours it was meant to happen, God wanted us at that Lake worshipping Him. I hope everything’s awesome back at home! Molly and Emma, I am not complete with out my 2 “sisters.” I loved you guys’ letters!! They made my day! Emily, I’ve been praying for you every day, and I hope your anxiety has gone away and that you’re doing awesome as usual! Amy I hope you had fun in Chicago, and I can’t wait to see you again! I love and miss you all!!
God Bless and Love Always
              Mandee
PS: Mom and Dad, the Saggau’s (Emily’s parents) don’t know about the website so if you could tell them that would be great! See you on Sunday!

Hey,
Life is good over here and all. I just wanted to say hi. The nature is really amazing. Having fun in Canada. Peace Out.
-Matt Biniki

Hello everyone back in the big CO!!  I am having an extremely amazing time here in Canada!  Yesterday we did work projects and my group moved dirt to plant grass, and cleared brush.  My legs and arms got really cut up, but it was totally worth it.  Last night we really came together as a youth group and prayed real hard for one of our members who was struggling.  We are all coming together in a super amazing strong bond.  God is awesome and please pray for continual strength.  Love everyone so much!

Oww…ouch…oh my good golly.  Let me tell you about my day: it all started out with waking up a bit late and then calmly hitting my head on the back of the couch like I do every morning, after that we had our scheduled Hoodoo Creek hike which wasn’t hard but definitely wasn’t easy.  Following that five-six hour hike, a group of us saw a nice mountain top and decided to fly to that peak by a helicopter and then ride our bikes down…all the way from the tippy top of a mountain.  After a long ride of loose rocks, wet roots, broken trees, scrapped knees, ripped pants, muddy shins, bloody socks, and falling off wheels, all I can say now is…it was an awesome day!.
Miss you guys, but not too much.
Sam

I can’t believe I hiked the whooooole thing!!! ~ Laura Kuhl

Hey guys its Mr. Jake Nice speakin.
Well to start off if you ever want to make friends quickly, take them on a really long and steep hike. It was amazing to see the relationships being made along the way. And it was all definitely worth it at the top of the mountain because of how beautiful it was, especially the lake across the landscape. Wow, gorgeous. Well yeah just waned to say hi n’ stuff but yeah if anybody sees my little brother Seth, make sure to tell him happy birthday tomorrow! He’s gonna be ELEVEN!
Peace,
Jake Nice

Hey this is Michael Clark today we went heli-biking the only problem that I had was that I could not stand on a bike yet and I think that every one wiped out more than ounce, and I was always last but the people that were waiting for me were I don’t think that angry and Andrew whipped and hurt himself, but he’s ok. The hike today was long and grueling but when I saw what God created for my amazement, the amazement went away when I fell 3 times in the stream and ounce in the cave and got mud on me, Ian almost took me out when the rocks fell from beneath him and he went sliding, thank goodness he didn’t. After the biking I did my testimony and it was fun.
Love Peace
Michael Clark

Hey yo what’s up homes?  Ryan here
I think that so far this trip has just been amazing!  I can’t believe the friends I’ve made, and the adventures are simply awesome.  On the hike, David Bears, Matt Haron, Little David, Ken, our group leader, And Evan G. Were climbing rocks like monkeys, And developed great friendships.  Then when we had lunch, and going into the cave, that was awesome because I had to trust my friends to light the way.  Going Heli-Biking Was awesome too because if you take all guys, and give them a shared experience, it seems like you don’t know each other at all, and then you find out like, Whoa, This guy is really chill.  Any way Andrew shared this experience.

Hey all, yes mom it surprises me too that I, David B., am writing.  Well typing anyway.  It was a great hike today up Hoo Doo Creek.  Oh, I finally figured out what I forget to pack, my knee brace.  (Whoops)  It has been fun so far and I hope that it will be great through the end of the week.
See ya all later, David Bearss

HELLO! Amy here!
This trip is absolutely amazing! I’m making so many new friends! Today we did the Hoo Doo Creek hike which is one of the most amazing hikes ever! It’s a challenging hike but the feeling of succeeding and getting to the top is amazing. You also have to trust yourself, that you’re going to make that one jump, or that your hiking boots are going to grip the slippery, wet rock… Just like you need to trust God! We also shared testimonies today. I was lucky #1! I love our youth group in the way that after you say share, everyone affirms you and lets you know that you aren’t in this alone! Everyone here is amazing and supportive. I want to work on giving control of my life over to God and everyone instantly gives me advice and offers me prayer support. God is showing up in so many cool and interesting ways and I can’t wait to see what else he does! Thank you for all of prayer and support! I LOVERS YOU MOMMY AND DADDY!
Amy (Lomo… for my daddy)

WEDNESDAY UPDATE:

We’re off to the great, wide wilderness today, tonight, and tomorrow—away from the warmth of the lodge and the relative warmth of our (unheated) cabins.  I’m looking forward to God making Himself known in powerful ways, through His creation and most especially through His people.  What a great time we’re having!   ~ Laura Kuhl

Hi Momma…..Its Jonathan
I AM ALIVE!!!!
I am sorry I didn’t write last night, but the laptop was fought over, so I didn’t get a chance to do so. Anyway I went heli-biking last night and it was amazing. It is crazy how that helicopter gets you going. Unfortunately I broke my leg….ya……but not really. Got ya! No it was sweet I did go over the handle bars a couple times and had a lot of blood but no torn ligaments or broken bones. There was a lot of blood…and sweat….but no tears so it was good! It was weird because the bikes are a lot different from mine…and that made things interesting…but it was amazing none the less and we got some good laughs as well. Anyway Canada is awesome and I am going to miss it so much….yet again but I have to enjoy it while I can. Thanks for your prayers momma cause I know you were praying and God kept me safe so it’s good. Pray for clear skies please, as we are camping out tonight. As much as I like to be soaked, it will be much more enjoyable without the rain. I hope all is well.                             -Jon Haron

Hey daddy! Your letters have been really inspiring to me so far on this trip! They have made me feel a lot closer to you than I really am! Yesterday, we went on an excruciating but amazingly fun hike. We really had to use those calves to get up the steep parts, which was VERY hard to do. Poor Michael, when we were coming out of the cave, he slipped on the mud and got it ALL over his left side. Also, I have made so many new friends/ created stronger relationships with people. Monday night, there was some pretty intense drama, but it blew over the next day. Hannah, Janet, Mara, Mommy, Brooke Stensgard, Kara Lownsberry, Kelly Lownsberry are all in my cabin. Canada is awesome, and I will be very sad to leave, but I know that I will be back! The people here at the lodge and just in general are the sweetest and most fun people you could ever meet! Luckily, I haven’t gotten hurt yet. I also met a really sweet German guy who’s name is Michael, or in German, Mi’ggus. I really miss you all, but I will be back. Give everyone a hug for me…and tell them I love them. Also, we weren’t able to bet shot glasses for everyone, but we got one for you. And we got Haleigh, Mikaila, and Justin something too. I hope everything’s all right there. Love ya!                  ~Rachel Kuhl

Rich & Jenni,
I hope you are both doing great this week.  I miss & love you both.  I’ll be thinking of you on your big night tonight, Jenni.  Have a great time.  Rich, please call my mom– I know she wants to go, too.  The Kenya vaccine capsule is in the refrigerator butter compartment.
It is really inspiring and humbling to see how the teens care for and support each other with a Christ-centered focus.  You know how Brian is always so willing to offer his jacket if one of us gals need one, or give up his comfort in some other way to serve us.  He offered to trade his sleeping bag with me for the overnight tonight so that I would not get cold.  Then David Kreinbring, who was standing with us, said he would also trade his all-freezing proof sleeping bag with me too.  What sweet boys!  Don’t worry, they will have their sleeping bags and I will borrow a more frost-hardy one from the Lodge.
My cabin mates are Bre, Amy and Katie.  Wow, am I lucky to be with these wonderful gals.
I forgot how much I love to hike.  God’s country up this way is breathtaking.  Let’s make a point of doing a 4 hour hike each week.  Good luck this week Rich.  Thanks for taking care of Jenni and Tucker
J.
Much love,
Barb/Mom

Hey everyone its Sarah!  I am just sitting down to a delicious din-din!  We hiked and traversed today after a night of sleeping under the stars.  It was amazing.  The stars were so bright.  Bre and I were woken up with a video camera this morning by Randy.  Migges my friend says hello and he will be witnessing my baptism tonight!  He is one of the leaders here at the camp.  He is from Germany.  I am very excited to be baptized and I really feel like this is the closest I have ever been with a group so I feel very comfortable with them.  I am missing you all!

Hey everyone, its Dallas. I am literally getting eaten alive by the mosquitoes up here. Besides that, Canada is amazing. The mountains are ten times cooler here then they are back in Colorado. Today, I traversed across a river. It is a GOOD THING THAT I AM NOT AFRAID OF HEIGHTS. Then we hiked to the waterfall land that was truly the most amazing thing that I have ever seen. That does include Kenya. Hey none of you will ever guess this, but I am not wearing my DALLAS STARS hat right now and I haven’t all day. God truly does do miracles. Anyway I miss you all.

Hello to all Centennial Covenant people,
My name is Kelly Bourn. I have been on staff at Frontier for almost 4 years, and have noticed something very different about this group of young people from Colorado that come up year after year from your church. They are exceptional. Year after year our Frontier Lodge staff talk about how wonderful the Colorado group is. This year has really got me wondering what it is about these kids that is so different than other groups. They are willing to help with any task and have such good attitudes in all their activities. They show a genuine interest in getting to know us as staff. There are few groups that leave such a positive impact on Frontier Lodge and its staff. It is truly a blessing to have your kids here as they are super encouraging to be around. Thanks for sending them up!! I hope to see a lot of your kids again next year!
In Christ,
Kelly

Hey everyone, it’s Emily! Well, what can I say? This is my first time in Canada and I am loving it! It is absolutely gorgeous up here! It’s really amazing what God can do in 6 days! Not only am I enjoying God’s creation, but all the friends I’ve made is unbelievable. Actually, maybe it is believable since we spent 35 hours on a bus together! We have been pretty busy up here these last couple days. Yesterday I went traversing and on a hike that was way cool. Hanging on a rope over a deep ravine with an ice blue river running below you was definitely my favorite. Today I went mountain biking, repelling, and rock climbing. As I thought, rock climbing was my favorite; however I didn’t get to finish because of the rain. Well, we have another night ahead of us! Pray for us, and I can’t wait to come home….although, I do LOVE Canada. Au revoir!
-Emily

Hey this is Matthew,
Today I went Traversing and did a hike. It was totally amazing! The water was so clear, and fresh. Yesterday I went Climbing and mountain biking. It was so much fun. Also I got to see the Lord’s beauty. I am so glad I came on this trip. Have fun in Colorado and See ya Sunday!-Matt

Hello it is Evan Charles Gammie
Today I went biking and climbing and both were very fun. Mom, Dad I was figuring you would want to hear from me considering how upset you were about Ian never writing when he was here. Mom to reply to your letter from today we didn’t go to the mall so I felt I needed to do something extra. So I went heli biking! Tonight was very hard for me because I shared my testimony and it was extremely personal. But, it really opened my eyes to what God was truly doing in my life. Being up here has provided me with most of the strength to start handing my life over to God. So that’s basically it, see you soon.
God bless,
Evan
P.S. Thanks for the cash dad : )

Wow!!!  I am a new creation!  Hey everyone this is Sarah, and just 2 or so hours ago (Thursday night) I was baptized along with my friend Hannah!  Randy and my friend Mandee Mramor were the ones who baptized me.  This afternoon was rather amazing.  It had been looking like it was going to rain all day, and like 20 mins before it was time to be baptized, it started to pour.  I was worried that I wouldn’t get to be baptized, but then the sun began to shine.  It was the most glorious light and everything was glowing and pure.  The rain drops looked like crystals falling from the sky.  So the time came and we (Hannah and I) headed down to the water in our surfer shorts and t-shirts.  I’m guessing the temperature at that time was only about 43.  It was freezing let me tell you.  SO Hannah and I went down to the shore and everyone gathered around us, and we told our testimonies and why we wanted to be baptized.  While Hannah was telling hers, 2 magnificent loons flew across the water and gave out their call.  It echoed across the lake and my heart soared!  Hannah was baptized first and soon after came my turn.  The water was icy cold (about 37 degree’s) and my breathing became very short.  I was baptized, and as I came up I felt free.  It was truly amazing.  My new friend Renee and many others came up to me after and hugged me, even when I was wet, and gave me amazing words of encouragement.  I don’t know guys, why God’s blessings are showering down all over me right now and I just don’t even know how to begin to thank him.  And don’t worry mom and dad, Randy got 2 video camera angles and 3 photo angles of my baptism.  SO you will be able to see it from every angle!  I love you all with so much love, and will be home soon!!  Xoxoxoxoxo

Hey My Fellow Coloradans
So I have spelunking mud all over me right now, yes I had the privilege of going spelunking in the Canadian Rockies! It was amazing but extremely steep and challenging. I’m super glad I did it though, it was a very memorable experience and something I will probably never forget any time soon. Like when me and Sarah were going back up the cave and talked in British accents the whole way, it was pretty sweet and how Jake was rhyming the whole way down the mountain, good times. Any way I will see you all on Sunday! Molly, Emma and Emily you should meet me at the church when we get back cause I miss you guys like crazy!!!! Love ya all                      Mandee Mramor

I have cave slime up my butt and legs, some on my face and some newly bleeding wounds!  Yes!  I just got back from Spelunking!  WOOO!  Aww yeah, me and a group of 15 people today all went spelunking in the Canadian Rockies.  For all of you who don’t know the term it means we hiked a whole mountain...like no joke.  The whole thing.  From zero to timberline.  Its like one of those mountains you see from the road and your like, wow I hope I never have to climb that.  But we did.  And then when we got to the top we went caving.  Way down deep we went and it was wet, dark, but awesome.  Some of our leaders taught us some awesome lessons while in the caves and they were really amazing and made us think about our walk with God.  Inside the cave were albino otters, and bats.  No joke…for real’s.  That’s what the hike was called.  Wapiabbi. “White Otter” in Indian.  The hike up the mountain was extremely steep and the way down was hard on the knees.  But my bestest friend Jakie Poo, or better known as “buttercup” recited some poetry that was pretty darn good!  It was a blast but I don’t think I would ever do it again!  I love you all sooo much and will be home in 2 days!  Happy almost fathers day dad and hello Katie, Madison, mom and all the animals!

Hey Ya’ll it is Mr. Jon here,
I just wanted to tell you that Canada…..well…it’s awesome. I have had such an awesome time and it just keeps getting better every year. The weather this year has been amazing. Last year it rained most of the week, but this time it has rained hard for hardly two hours. It is amazing. Today I went to Mrs. Bourn’s café while on a bike ride, and I talked to some people who had been 40 minutes away and hadn’t seen sun except for the time they were there. It has been such a blessing to see the sun and nature is reflected so well through it! I love this place and….I’m not gonna lie…..I wish we weren’t leaving tomorrow….but that means it’s worth the 600 bucks eh? Yep, I am exciting to see ya’ll soon, although I wont be awake…it will be good to be home. Thanks for the prayers!
               -Jon H.

Canoeing was cool.  My canoe buddy (David Kreinbring) and I made a pact to not tip over, and we sealed it with a secret handshake.  We went over the strokes we learned and came up with names for them so that we could communicate while we were in the middle of the Saskatchewan River—very beautiful, of course.  We had an interesting start, but pretty soon we were able to do what we needed to do without talking—except when we were checking on each other.  Even when we did have to talk, we made it clear to each other that we weren’t being bossy with each other—we were just making sure.  It was good.  We canoed the equivalent of 21 miles through pretty hard rain, sun, moths, and mosquitos.  We got pretty wet, and our ankles got cramped under the seat (we had to kneel in the canoe), but it wasn’t a big deal.  We bounced over some pretty good waves and voted to shoot Sonder’s (sp?) Ledge at the end.  Good times.
~ Laura Kuhl

Hello it’s Bre!
Soo... we leave tomorrow and I’m really excited to be home with my family and friends, but I don’t want to leave too. Today I went canoeing on the river... and WOW, I thought I was going to die ha-ha! But good thing that didn’t happen. This whole week I have been really getting to know Sarah Yount, and let me tell you she is one of THE most amazing people God could have blessed me with. She has made my whole week worth while. So we talk a ton and have sooo much fun, and I realized I look up to her more than anyone (besides my mom). But she is the girl of faith that I want to be. So today when I was canoeing, I was thinking, if I die, I’m going to heaven no duh. But then I really thought about it and realized that, holy cow, I don’t know if I really would go to heaven! It was the most horrible thing ever to happen to me. So as the waves were coming, and U realized right there, that I needed God more than anything in that moment. And that’s when I really, truly asked him to totally take over my life, and complete me. And He did! Who would have thought?? Ha-ha!! But if Sarah’s parents are reading this right now, you have THE most amazing daughter EVER in this WORLD!! She totally brought me to God and even though she didn’t know it, she helped me immensely. So ANYWAYS… see you guys on Sunday! Love you Daddy, Mommy, Cassie and my Joy!
Love.Love.Love.                                                                                                Bre-Bre

It is Evan once again!
So today I went biking for the third time this trip and let me tell you, I am pooped. I’ve participated in every activity even though I have had a swollen arm, a cold, and not being able to hear out of my right ear (I think I have an ear infection) for almost the entire trip. Every day I have slowly grown in my faith and am getting pretty close to God if you ask me. I have grown to know many of the camp counselors and today we even went squirrel hunting with Darci (a counselor). We used whatever we could find to hunt down squirrels, and for us kids that was rocks and sticks, but for Darci it was an ax and a knife about five inches long! Surprisingly that excursion was one of the best all trip because it was relaxing and I was given the opportunity to bask in God’s glory. So today was a great day and I am really ready to be home and see my family and little Rocky! I’m going to have a great time waking up at about 5 in the morning tomorrow to travel back home, NOT! So I’m being forced to stop typing now due to that it is 11:15 at night so bye-Evan
